TOMRES

The TOMRES project aims to resolve one of the most important problems of European greenhouse and outdoor tomato growers, which concerns the identification of plants that are resistant to drought and resilient to lack of nutrients. In an effort to safeguard production and environmental sustainability, the project tests and evaluates combinations of tomato genotypes, studying the reaction mechanisms of resilient genotypes to stress, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices, such as the use of biostimulants to increase the resistance of plants to drought and their resilience to a lack of nutrients.

GAIA EPICHEIREIN runs an experimental farm in the Tympaki region, aiming to study resilient tomato plants and further assess cultivation practices under conditions of drought and lack of nutrients. At the same time, the said experiments are presented to interested producer networks, who are also trained in the implementation of the best practices that will, ultimately, result from the project.
