Last October, the European Commission presented the Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture to address the problem of an aging rural population. According to Commission data, in 2020 only 12% of farmers were under 40 years old, while the average age of the farming population was 57.
GAIA EPICHEIREIN implements an awareness campaign under the CAP4Youth project — “CAP for Young Farmers: Generational Renewal and Sustainable Agriculture in Greece” — with the support of the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission.
